The Community stall is a free stall at the market which is available for use by the local community. This may be schools or community groups along with individuals who wish to sell excess from their gardens, foraged foods or to try out a new idea.
We love when local school groups come and visit the market. Let us know when you are coming and we will meet you for a chat about how a farmers market works, why markets are important for farmers and the environment and we will introduce the children to some of the stallholders. Transition year groups are very welcome to come and visit the market and return to run the community stall. This can be a valuable experience as it is a "real activity' and pupils can plan the project from start to finish. Involving the children in designing, producing for and running the stall enables the school to communicate the importance of sustainably produced local food and how local food systems work.
The Community stall can also be used for workshops and demonstrations with a food, farming or environmental theme.
